Why composite is the Long Island default
Long Island weather is hard on decks. Salt air, driving rain, freeze-thaw cycles, and 95-degree summer sun all push wood decks toward sanding and staining every 2–3 years. Composite skips all of that. The boards are made from recycled wood fiber and HDPE plastic, capped with a hard polymer shell that resists fading, staining, scratching, and mold.
Trex Transcend and TimberTech AZEK — the two composites we install most — carry 25-year fade and stain warranties. You pressure-wash them once a season. That's the maintenance. No oil, no sealer, no sanding. The boards you install this spring still look new in 2035.
Which composite fits your yard
Trex Enhance Naturals — the value line. Grey, brown, and tan tones, realistic wood grain. Great choice for traditional homes where you want premium performance without the premium price.
Trex Transcend — our most-installed line. Richer tri-blend coloring (Spiced Rum, Tiki Torch, Havana Gold), deeper wood grain, same 25-year warranty. Handles Long Island coastal homes well.
TimberTech AZEK Vintage — 100% PVC. Slightly lighter, slightly more expensive, best choice for homes closest to the water. Won't absorb moisture at all.
Azek Harvest & Vintage — multi-tonal premium finishes. The showpiece deck for a modern home where the deck is the focal point of the back yard.
Built right — not just boards over rot
A composite deck is only as good as what's under it. We frame with pressure-treated southern yellow pine, galvanized joist hangers, and Ledgerlok connectors. Every hidden fastener is a Cortex or Trex Universal clip. Railings are matched to the board line — Trex Signature aluminum or TimberTech Drink Rail with wire infill.
Footings are concrete, poured to frost depth (42 in. on Long Island). We don't use surface blocks or skirted pads — those fail the first winter. Every joist is flashed before decking goes down so water never sits on the framing.

Long Island composite decking reviews
They showed up when they said, built what they promised, and handled every permit themselves. I didn't touch a town hall form.
The crew was clean, Vinny walked the job every day, and the final walk-through caught things I wouldn't have noticed.
Third project with Long Island Deck Co. in six years. They deliver every time.
